Version 1.0 Alpha Released

# Knights of Crystalis - Alpha 1.0 Changelog

## Alpha 1.0 - Stable Horizons

Alpha 1.0 is a reliability, interface and progression release focused on tester-reported defects. Existing content remains compatible through save schema 10.

### Campaign loot correction

  • Campaign equipment level is now derived from the selected region and quest step.
  • Account level no longer changes campaign item-level rolls.
  • Standard and Veteran difficulty use explicit regional loot bands.
  • Every quest card displays the expected `Gear Lv.min-max` range.
  • Loot records now retain the source region, combat mode, encounter level and regional band.
  • Item details and victory results show where campaign equipment was found.

### Aquarium commerce repair

  • Rebuilt Aquarium offer validation and shop refresh handling.
  • Fixed invalid fish prices that could regenerate offers and make purchases appear to do nothing.
  • Fixed fish purchases despite available Gold and tank capacity.
  • Centralized exact supply and infrastructure prices.
  • Restored Food Crate, Crystal Plant, Filter Snail, Filter and Tank purchases.
  • Filter and Tank upgrade labels now describe the next purchased level clearly.
  • Added specific errors for expired offers, a full tank and insufficient Gold.
  • Shop controls now use reliable event bindings across desktop and touch layouts.

### Chat and System channel

  • Added a fifth read-only **System** channel.
  • System reports include patch deployments, Arena headlines, Daily operations and world events.
  • Patch 1.0 notes are inserted automatically once per migrated or new profile.
  • Home now displays recent System messages under **Patch 1.0 Field Notes**.
  • Updated the patch-response knowledge used by contextual NPC chat.
  • Preserved Global, Trade, Raid and Guild conversations and Silvernite87 behavior.
  • Increased chat history capacity to 600 messages.

### Interface and responsive layout

  • Fixed the desktop chat grid definition that placed five content rows into a three-row layout.
  • Chat channel buttons remain compact instead of stretching through most of the page.
  • Reworked channel tabs for five equal desktop columns and touch-friendly mobile rows.
  • Standardized navigation, tabs, buttons, labels and icon alignment.
  • Rebalanced Home feature cards into responsive 3-, 2- and 1-column layouts.
  • Prevented narrow feature tiles from turning descriptions into vertical text columns.
  • Reworked Gem cards to prevent name, stat and button overlap.
  • Added responsive Forge toolbars, warnings and comparison blocks.
  • Tested every major view from 320 to 1920 pixels without horizontal page overflow.

### Labyrinth balance

  • Labyrinth difficulty is no longer derived from player Account Level.
  • Added six fixed and strictly increasing threat tiers.
  • Mossvault begins at Tier 1; Founder's Paradox is the Tier 6 endpoint.
  • Enemy level, threat multiplier, rewards and recommended Power now increase monotonically.
  • Founder encounters can no longer become easier than Embervale/Mossvault because of progression context.

### Raid presentation

  • Replaced large placeholder `BOSS` panels with illustrated procedural monster portraits.
  • Each Raid card now uses the boss element, icon family and existing pixel-monster visual system.
  • Added clearer element, weakness, HP and recommendation information.

### Smithy safety and filtering

  • Reforging now opens a final confirmation dialog.
  • The dialog explicitly warns that randomized stats can become better or worse.
  • Locked selected items display a prominent warning before the reforge.
  • Lock state, identity, item level, rarity, Set identity, sockets and Quality remain preserved.
  • Added filters for All Equipment, Equipped, Locked, Unlocked, Weapons, Armor, Jewelry, Sets and Uniques.

### Collection secrecy and Unique lore

  • Undiscovered Unique Binder entries no longer reveal names, slots or lore.
  • Undiscovered Set Binder entries no longer reveal names, slots or bonuses.
  • Every fixed Unique now has a non-empty and distinct lore sentence.
  • Added the powerful Unique sword **Elias**.
  • Elias lore: **A father's pride.**
  • Elias can trigger a once-per-battle party barrier and temporary wielder empowerment when an ally becomes critically wounded.
  • Elias special behavior is included in Item Power as a proc effect.

### Tutorial and onboarding

  • Added a dedicated Tutorial menu entry.
  • The Tutorial covers progression, campaign loot, party building, Job Cards, equipment, Smithy use, sockets, Treasure stats, Labyrinths, Maps, Tower, Raids, Aquarium, saving and difficulty.
  • Added a direct Tutorial button and feature tile to Home.

### Save and migration

  • Save schema increased to 10.
  • System chat state is created safely for older saves.
  • Existing chat channels and histories are preserved.
  • Gear Loadout migration now retains up to 16 entries, matching the live interface limit.
  • Historical local-storage compatibility remains enabled.

### Verification

  • JavaScript syntax checks passed for production scripts
  • Data IDs and every class evolution reference were validated.
  • 5,000 procedural items were generated without invalid numeric values.
  • Early and late campaign loot bands were sampled and remained within their regional limits.
  • All Aquarium offer and supply transactions completed successfully.
  • All six Labyrinth recommendations increased in the intended order.
  • All 23 major views rendered at six desktop/mobile widths with no horizontal overflow.
  • No unhandled page or JavaScript console errors occurred in the tested Chromium flows.
