Version 1.21.0 Released

Version 1.21.0 is here.

This update expands one of the game’s existing systems into something much larger: the Guild is now becoming a true long-term hub that connects multiple parts of Knights of Crystalis together.

Rather than adding another isolated menu or progression track, The Adventurer’s Guild builds on systems that already exist — Campaign, Arena, Hunts, Crafting, Rifts, Atlas Maps, Menagerie, Seasons, Crownstead and more — and gives players new reasons to revisit all of them.

Adventurer’s Guild Contracts

The Guild now offers a rotating board of four active Contracts.

These Contracts pull objectives from across the game and track real progress in existing systems.

Possible objectives include:

  • Campaign progress
  • Arena victories
  • Hunt Board completions
  • Crafting
  • Dynamic Quest Director activities
  • Crystal Rifts
  • Atlas Maps
  • Menagerie progression
  • Seasonal activities
  • Crownstead development
  • Exploration and other existing gameplay systems

The initial Contract system currently draws from 13 different Contract templates.

The intention is simple:

Instead of forcing players into one specific endgame activity, the Guild rewards them for engaging with the broader game.

No Daily FOMO

Contracts are intentionally designed without aggressive daily expiration.

If you receive a Contract Board and do not finish it immediately, your unfinished objectives remain available rather than disappearing simply because the date changed.

The same philosophy applies to Legendary Bounties.

Knights of Crystalis should reward playing — not punish players for taking a break.

Guild Reputation

Completing Guild activities now awards Adventurer Reputation.

Reputation progresses through eight Guild Ranks, beginning with Initiate and eventually leading all the way to Grandmaster.

The early progression has been tuned so that completing the introductory four-Contract board awards enough Reputation to reach the second Guild Rank.

This creates a natural onboarding loop:

Complete your first Contract Board.

Earn your promotion.

Unlock the next layer of Guild content.

From there, the Guild becomes a longer-term progression system tied to continued play across the game.

Legendary Bounties

The biggest new challenge in this update is the arrival of Legendary Bounties.

These are not simple checklist objectives.

Legendary Bounties trigger actual boss encounters with specially modified enemies and dedicated rewards.

Version 1.21.0 introduces six Legendary Bounty targets:

  • The Ashen Maw
  • The Iron Oracle
  • Mirror Hunger
  • The Thorn Crown
  • The Roadbreaker
  • The Glass Sovereign

Each target is built around enhanced combat parameters and can feature modified:

  • Health
  • Attack
  • Defense
  • Speed
  • Damage Reduction
  • Life Steal

These encounters are intended to act as compact build checks outside the main Campaign and Rift progression.

Successfully completing a Legendary Bounty grants its reward once for that bounty cycle, preventing repeated reward farming while still making each encounter meaningful.

Veteran Guild Support

Existing long-term saves have not been forgotten.

Players who already invested heavily into the Guild before 1.21.0 receive a limited amount of starting Adventurer Reputation based on existing Guild progress, including Guild level and completed Expeditions.

This legacy credit is intentionally capped.

Veteran players therefore receive recognition for previous progression without automatically skipping the new Guild system entirely.

The highest ranks still need to be earned through the new progression.

Existing Guild Systems Remain Intact

The Adventurer’s Guild update expands the existing Guild rather than replacing it.

Your current:

  • Guild members
  • Expedition progress
  • Guild Research
  • Guild Marks
  • Treasury
  • Existing Guild progression

remain intact.

The new Contract, Reputation and Legendary Bounty systems sit alongside what was already there.

Balance Philosophy

A major goal with 1.21.0 was to create meaningful progression without reopening the entire combat and economy balance established in previous versions.

Because of that, Guild Ranks do not introduce unlimited combat scaling.

Contract Reputation also does not endlessly scale with player level.

Legendary Bounty stat modifiers are bounded rather than infinitely increasing.

And Bounty rewards are limited per cycle.

The Guild should create new objectives and prestige without becoming the only optimal source of power or currency.

Save Compatibility

Version 1.21.0 remains compatible with existing saves.

  • Save Schema remains 38
  • No save reset required
  • No manual migration required
  • Existing Guild data remains supported
  • New Guild fields are normalized automatically when older saves are loaded

As always, keeping a manual export of an important save before replacing a browser build is recommended.
