Version 1.50.39 Released

Version 1.50.39 introduces one of the largest progression expansions added to the underground side of Knights of Crystalis so far.

Three previously planned roadmap features have now been implemented as one connected progression loop:

69. Mine Expansion 70. Deepfolk City 71. Mining Expeditions

Rather than building three isolated systems, they now directly interact with each other.

The Underground Becomes a Real Progression Layer

The Mine was previously useful, but comparatively limited in scope.

With 1.50.39, it becomes the foundation of an entire secondary progression ecosystem.

Players now descend through increasingly valuable geological regions, extract new resources, develop Deepfolk City, improve underground infrastructure, and send autonomous crews into newly discovered shafts.

The basic progression loop is now:

Mine → Rare Ores → Deepfolk City → Infrastructure → Expeditions → Survey Progress → Deeper Mine Layers → Endgame Resources

Each part of the system strengthens the others.

69. Mine Expansion

The Mine has been significantly expanded.

It now features:

  • 20 Mine upgrade levels
  • 12 geological depth zones
  • 8 new underground ores
  • increasingly valuable deposits at greater depths
  • additional Mining efficiency bonuses
  • expanded cart progression
  • rare resource discoveries
  • deeper progression requirements
  • connections to existing crafting materials

The Mine is no longer just a simple resource generator.

Different depth ranges now represent distinct progression stages, with increasingly valuable resources becoming available as the player develops their underground operation.

Some of the deepest layers also require sufficient survey progress from Mining Expeditions before they can be fully accessed.

New Underground Resources

Eight new underground ore types have been added.

These resources support the new systems directly while also feeding into existing crafting economies.

Deep mining can now contribute toward resources such as:

  • Star Iron
  • Crystal Dust
  • Quality Stones
  • Reforging Orbs
  • Relic Fragments
  • Socket Catalysts

This gives long-term Mining progression meaningful connections to equipment development and Itemization 3.0.

70. Deepfolk City

Deepfolk City is now a fully developed secondary settlement.

This is not simply another shop or menu.

The city contains:

10 upgradeable districts

Each district can be upgraded through 5 levels, creating a total of 50 district progression stages.

City development influences:

  • Mining productivity
  • ore storage
  • Mine carts
  • expedition capabilities
  • underground resource generation
  • population
  • city renown
  • deeper progression systems

Deepfolk City therefore acts as the central infrastructure layer for the entire underground economy.

Building the City

Players gradually transform the settlement from a small underground outpost into a major Deepfolk city.

Resources gathered from Mining and Expeditions can be reinvested into the settlement.

Those upgrades then make Mining and Expeditions more effective.

This creates a persistent feedback loop where every underground activity contributes toward larger long-term development.

Deepfolk City also introduces its own:

  • population progression
  • renown progression
  • resource economy
  • ore exchange systems
  • infrastructure bonuses

The result is effectively a second major progression hub inside the game.

71. Mining Expeditions

Mining Expeditions introduce a new autonomous exploration system.

Players can discover and survey underground shafts using permanent expedition crews.

The system currently contains:

  • 8 discoverable expedition shafts
  • up to 4 permanent Deep Crews
  • different shaft difficulties
  • danger ratings
  • success probabilities
  • expedition durations
  • survey progression
  • rare discoveries
  • automatic expedition dispatching
  • expedition reports

Different shafts offer different opportunities and risks.

Deeper expeditions can uncover increasingly valuable materials and contribute toward unlocking additional underground progression.

Autonomous Crews

Once established, Deep Crews can operate automatically.

Players do not need to manually control individual miners.

Instead, the focus is on strategic progression:

  • developing crews
  • improving infrastructure
  • choosing appropriate shafts
  • increasing expedition reliability
  • expanding capacity
  • collecting expedition results

The system is designed to complement the game's broader offline-MMO simulation structure rather than turning Mining into a manual minigame.

Auto Dispatch

Advanced underground progression allows expedition crews to be automatically dispatched.

Up to four crews can operate simultaneously once the necessary infrastructure has been developed.

This makes Mining Expeditions an additional long-term background progression system alongside the game's other automated activities.

Offline Underground Progression

Mine carts and Mining Expeditions continue progressing while the player is away.

Offline progression is therefore now significantly more important to the underground systems.

Returning players may find:

  • completed expedition crews
  • accumulated Mine resources
  • new survey progress
  • rare discoveries
  • additional materials ready for reinvestment

This reinforces the game's persistent-world simulation design.

New Achievements

Several new achievements have been added around the expansion.

They track milestones including:

  • Mine depth
  • Deepfolk City development
  • expedition completion
  • expedition reports
  • rare ore discoveries

These achievements provide additional long-term objectives for players who want to fully develop the underground progression tree.

Integration With Existing Systems

A major goal of this update was ensuring the expansion did not become an isolated side activity.

The new underground economy interacts with existing progression through crafting and equipment resources.

Rare underground finds can contribute toward:

  • equipment improvement
  • reforging
  • socket systems
  • relic development
  • quality upgrades
  • high-level crafting

This allows players who invest heavily in Mining to gain advantages elsewhere without making underground progression mandatory for every build.
