Version 1.46.0 Released
The Endless Abyss gave you somewhere to go forever. Abyss Ascension gives you a reason to go back with a different plan.
Version 1.46.0 – Abyss Ascension expands the Endless Abyss with a new long-term specialization system built around challenge, commitment, and alternative playstyles.
The centerpiece of this update is the introduction of Abyss Oaths.
Instead of simply asking how deep your strongest setup can descend, the Abyss can now ask something more interesting:
How deep can you descend under a completely different set of rules?
Abyss Oaths
Version 1.46.0 introduces 8 unlockable Abyss Oaths.
Before beginning an Endless expedition, you can attune yourself to one unlocked Oath.
Only one Oath can be active per run.
Each Oath provides:
- a powerful advantage
- a permanent drawback
- its own strategic identity
- its own progression records
The intention is not to create eight straightforward upgrades.
An Oath should change the way you approach the expedition.
A bonus that dramatically improves one part of your company may weaken another.
An Oath that accelerates offense may reduce survivability.
Another may improve rewards while making the expedition significantly more dangerous.
The result is a new layer of build planning before the first Endless route is even selected.
Commitment Matters
Once an Endless expedition begins, the selected Oath is snapshotted into the run.
It cannot be swapped when the expedition becomes inconvenient.
If you descend from Depth 6 to Depth 20, the same Oath follows you through the entire journey.
This creates a stronger sense of identity for each run.
You are no longer simply attempting:
“an Endless run.”
You are attempting:
“an Endless run under this Oath.”
Unlocking New Oaths
Not every Oath is available immediately.
Additional Oaths are unlocked through accomplishments you already pursue inside the Endless Abyss.
Unlock conditions are tied to existing progression such as:
- Deepest Descent
- Guardian Clears
- Corruption
- Best Reward Multiplier
- Guardian Streak
- Successful Extractions
There is no additional currency to farm.
There is no separate Oath resource.
The system reads your existing Endless accomplishments and progressively opens new challenge options as you prove your mastery.
Individual Oath Records
Every Oath now tracks its own performance.
For each Oath, the game records:
- Best Depth
- Guardian Clears
- Successful Extractions
- Mastery status
This means your overall Deepest Descent is no longer the only record that matters.
Perhaps your normal Endless record is Depth 30.
But how far can you get under a much harsher Oath?
That becomes its own challenge.
Players can now build a complete set of personal Abyss records instead of optimizing only for one maximum-depth run.
Oath Mastery
Each Oath also has a dedicated Mastery objective.
Reaching Depth 10 while attuned to an Oath permanently marks that Oath as Mastered.
This creates eight distinct long-term goals.
Mastering every Oath requires more than one dominant party configuration.
Different advantages and penalties favor different:
- equipment setups
- Hero combinations
- Party Tactics
- Boon priorities
- Black Pact decisions
- Corruption strategies
- extraction thresholds
The Endless Abyss now encourages adaptation rather than simply repeating whichever configuration produced your deepest previous run.
Abyss Prestige
Oath progression also feeds into a new prestige layer.
As more of the Oath system is conquered, your overall Abyss status advances through additional ranks.
The highest recognition is:
Abyss Ascendant
This is deliberately a prestige goal rather than another mandatory power system.
The objective is to recognize complete Abyss mastery without introducing another economy that needs to be endlessly farmed.
Endless Abyss Integration
Abyss Oaths are fully integrated into the existing Endless systems.
They work alongside:
- procedural Depth 6+ generation
- Endless Conditions
- persistent Party Life
- Boons
- Curses
- Black Pacts
- Corruption
- Run Factor
- Guardian Streak
- Threat scaling
- Reward scaling
- Extract or Descend decisions
Oaths do not replace these mechanics.
They modify the context in which you use them.
A route that was previously safe may become dangerous under a particular Oath.
A Boon you normally ignore may suddenly become extremely valuable.
An extraction point that usually feels conservative may become the correct decision.
That interaction is the core purpose of Abyss Ascension.
Existing Endless Runs Remain Valid
Save compatibility was an important requirement for this update.
Existing Endless expeditions created in Version 1.45.0 do not receive an Oath retroactively.
If you already have a run in progress, it remains a normal oathless expedition.
Finish it.
Fail it.
Extract from it.
Nothing is rewritten underneath you.
Oath selection begins with newly started Endless expeditions.
No New Currency
Abyss Ascension deliberately introduces no new currency.
The game already contains multiple progression systems, and adding another collectible simply to support Oaths would create unnecessary economy inflation.
Instead, Oaths are driven entirely by accomplishments and existing Abyss progression.
Your performance is the progression system.
Automated Combat Remains
As with every previous Abyss update, combat remains fully automated.
Abyss Ascension adds strategic decisions around combat rather than converting the game into manual combat.
Your influence continues to come from:
- company composition
- equipment
- Party Tactics
- Oath selection
- route choices
- Boon choices
- Black Pacts
- Corruption management
- extraction decisions
Once the fight begins, your company must prove whether those decisions were correct.
