Version 1.39 Released
Version 1.39 is now available.
This update focuses on a specific visual issue in Frontline Command where static objects could appear to float in the sky. These objects looked like broken building fragments or leftover geometry and were especially noticeable on desktop.
After tracing the issue, the problem turned out to be related to campaign-specific visual layers remaining active when Frontline mode started.
Fixed Floating Geometry in Frontline
Several environment systems used separate Three.js meshes that were not always tied directly to their parent buildings.
These included elements such as:
- distant skyline pieces
- district decorations
- facade signage
- rooftop details
- atmosphere objects
- biome props
- mission-specific visual layers
- skyline infill
- street and environment details
When switching into Frontline Command, the main campaign geometry was hidden correctly, but some of these additional visual layers could remain visible.
Because those systems were no longer being updated during Frontline gameplay, the leftover meshes could appear completely static and seem to float in mid-air.
Why It Was More Visible on Desktop
This issue was much easier to notice on desktop systems because desktop rendering uses higher environment and atmosphere budgets than mobile.
More decorative objects, skyline elements, and atmospheric meshes can be active at the same time, so the same underlying issue produced many more visible artifacts.
This also explains why the problem was much harder to reproduce on smartphones.
New Frontline Visual Isolation Layer
Version 1.39 introduces a dedicated Campaign Visual Isolation system for Frontline Command.
When Frontline starts, known campaign-only presentation layers are now explicitly isolated from the Frontline scene.
This includes systems such as:
- campaign atmosphere
- campaign skyline
- biome visuals
- district props
- district landmarks
- mission identity layers
- rooftop detail
- street detail
- skyline infill
- additional environmental decoration
Only the campaign presentation layers are affected.
Frontline systems remain untouched, including:
- Frontline buildings
- ground units
- aircraft
- projectiles
- explosions
- combat effects
- objectives
- resource nodes
- AI systems
Automatic Protection Against Regression
A lightweight visibility audit has also been added.
While Frontline is active, the game periodically checks whether any known campaign-only visual layer has accidentally become visible again.
If that happens, the offending presentation layer is hidden again automatically.
This check does not run every frame and does not affect gameplay simulation, physics, AI, or unit transforms.
Graphics Settings Safety
Changing graphics settings could previously cause some visual layers to be rebuilt or re-enabled.
Version 1.39 now reapplies Frontline visual isolation after relevant graphics refreshes, preventing old campaign geometry from reappearing during a Frontline match.
Existing Improvements Remain Included
Version 1.39 also keeps all improvements from previous releases, including:
- improved desktop mini-map
- responsive HUD fixes
- improved Frontline aircraft visuals
- desktop layout improvements
- loadout presets
- expanded weapon comparison
- after-action reports
- mobile support
- controller support
- Local WLAN support
