Version 1.50 Alpha Released
Voxel Adventurer Village – Alpha 1.50
Milestone Update & Release Candidate
Version 1.50 is a major milestone for Voxel Adventurer Village.
Instead of adding another huge standalone feature, this update focuses on bringing the existing game together: progression, balance, interface clarity, save stability, late-game systems, performance and overall reliability.
After many expansions, the village has grown into a surprisingly interconnected simulation. Version 1.50 is about making sure all of those moving parts actually work together.
A Cleaner Early Game
As the game became larger, new players were being introduced to too many systems at once.
Version 1.50 now gradually opens some of the more advanced management features as your village develops.
Early villages focus more clearly on:
- building the settlement
- attracting adventurers
- improving facilities
- completing quests
- growing popularity
- preparing for the next Town Rank
Advanced Guild and World systems appear later instead of filling the interface immediately.
A new Milestone Advisor also gives a small selection of useful next goals based on the current state of your village.
It does not force a specific playstyle. It simply helps answer the question:
“What should I probably work on next?”
Festivals & Village Progression
Festivals have been adjusted so they feel more meaningful.
Player-hosted festivals are now limited per seasonal period, making Event Points a resource worth thinking about instead of something that can simply be spammed.
Several larger celebrations were also added:
- Spring Guild Jubilee
- Summer Champions Festival
- Autumn Founders Banquet
- Winter Heroes’ Vigil
These can temporarily improve the productivity and atmosphere of the settlement without turning festivals into mandatory optimization tools.
Prestige Jobs
A small number of high-level Tier 4 jobs now require a Guild Medal before an adventurer can advance into them.
These include:
- Seraph Guard
- Dragon Knight
- Grand Sorcerer
- Hierophant
- Voidblade
- Sword Saint
Existing characters are never downgraded.
The goal is simply to make the most prestigious jobs feel like achievements connected to the wider Guild progression.
Hero Stories Now Leave Marks on the Village
Adventurers have been gaining increasingly detailed personal histories over the last several updates.
Now those stories can affect the town itself.
Completing important Hero Story chapters can add:
- Facility Fame
- permanent history entries
- legacy records connected to important buildings
A hero may become associated with their favorite facility, residence, Guild Hall or Village Plaza.
The intention is for a long-running settlement to slowly become filled with its own history.
The Big QA Pass
Version 1.50 also received the largest testing pass the project has had so far.
I created automated players designed to behave more like actual people rather than simple unit tests.
Some played cautiously.
Some focused heavily on adventuring.
Some expanded aggressively.
And one intentionally behaved terribly.
Automated gameplay testing included:
- 2,479 simulated player decisions
- 386 virtual game days
- 8 chaos-test seeds
- 1,024 deliberately aggressive actions
- building and demolishing facilities
- facility upgrades
- quests
- festivals
- Guild actions
- job changes
- equipment
- saving and loading
- long-term settlement growth
The result:
0 invariant failures 0 runtime errors 0 console warnings
The AI Player Even Made Human Mistakes
One of the automated players spent many days stuck at Town Rank 3.
At first, this looked like a progression problem.
It already had enough:
- Popularity
- heroes
- facility quality
- quest progress
But it was still missing the required number of buildings.
The reason was wonderfully mundane:
the AI had forgotten to expand its roads properly.
It had literally built itself into a corner.
After teaching the tester to expand the street network when space became limited, progression continued normally.
That was actually a useful result because it showed the game was not softlocked. The player strategy was simply bad.
Which is probably the most human result the automated testing produced.
Save Game Testing
Save compatibility received another major pass.
A real 1.49 save file was created using the actual 1.49 game code and then loaded into 1.50.
The following remained unchanged through migration:
- Gold
- Food
- Wood
- Stone
- Renown
- Hero Work
- resident count
- building count
The game then correctly created the new v60 save format.
Corrupted save data was tested as well.
A damaged JSON save no longer threatens the session. The game safely rejects it, starts a fresh state and can replace the broken save with a valid one later.
Late Game Stress Testing
The late game also received dedicated stress scenarios.
Testing included settlements with approximately:
- Town Rank ★5
- 30+ buildings
- 60+ residents
- 30+ adventurers
- active combat
- developed regional systems
- Guild upgrades
- festivals
- advanced jobs
Save → Reload was tested during these states as well.
Important resources, world time and progression remained consistent.
Data Integrity Checks
The game database was also cross-checked for broken references.
Validated content includes:
- 62 Jobs
- 50 Building types
- 15 Quest definitions
- 8 Regions
- 43 Monsters
- 63 Loot bases
Job paths, weapons, prestige requirements, quest prerequisites, regional references and costs were checked for invalid links.
No broken content references were found.
Performance
A dense settlement stress test with roughly:
- 85 residents
- 42 buildings
- 1280×900 rendering
produced an average rendering cost of approximately:
- 5.9 ms average
- 12.6 ms P95
- 14.6 ms P99
That keeps the vast majority of frames inside a typical 60 FPS rendering budget on the test environment.
Release Candidate Status
After this pass, I currently consider Voxel Adventurer Village Alpha 1.50 ready to be used as a public release candidate.
That does not mean every possible bug has magically disappeared.
Simulation games are especially good at producing strange edge cases after dozens of hours, unusual player strategies or uncommon browser/device combinations.
But there are currently:
no known reproducible release-blocking bugs.
The Release Candidate uses the exact tested runtime code.
No last-minute gameplay changes were added after QA.
What Comes Next?
With 1.50 acting as a stable milestone, future updates can return to expanding the game rather than constantly reinforcing the foundation.
Possible upcoming areas include:
- deeper Friendly Monster life
- lightweight weather and seasonal behavior
- additional facilities
- richer regional content
- more dungeon depth
- expanded housing and neighborhood life
- stronger late-game progression
- more quests, equipment, monsters and discoveries
For now, however, the goal is simple:
Get Alpha 1.50 into players’ hands and see what real villages become.
Thank you for following the development of Voxel Adventurer Village.
The village is finally ready for visitors.
