Version 1.4.1 Released

This update focuses on polish, mobile usability, stability, and a final round of testing before release.

What changed

The biggest improvement is the mobile planning interface.

Previously, the Route Preview / Start Run panel could cover a large part of the playfield on smaller screens. This has now been completely reworked.

The planning controls now sit outside the game grid, which means the entire puzzle board remains visible at all times.

The canvas also resizes dynamically when the planning panel appears or disappears, keeping touch coordinates and visual scaling correct.

Mobile improvements

This update includes additional fixes and testing for:

  • 360×800 displays
  • 390×844 displays
  • 412×915 displays
  • compact itch.io-style embedded layouts
  • landscape layouts
  • touch input
  • drag placement
  • safe responsive scaling
  • modal scrolling
  • pause and restart behavior

The game should now feel much cleaner on phones and tablets.

Bug fixes

A number of smaller issues were also fixed during the final QA pass:

  • Route Preview no longer covers the board
  • Restart now fully resets the route state
  • Speed always resets to ×1 after restarting
  • Tool selection resets correctly between levels
  • old route notifications no longer remain visible after restart
  • blocked or special tiles can no longer receive invalid signals
  • pause/resume behavior has been tightened
  • touch placement stays accurate after UI layout changes

Final gameplay validation

The entire campaign and additional modes were rechecked using the actual gameplay simulation.

Validated:

  • 40 campaign levels
  • 4 Signal Rifts
  • Puzzle Vault
  • Time Attack
  • Survival
  • Daily Challenges

A total of 1,826 Daily Challenge seeds across multiple years were tested.

All tested layouts remained valid and solvable.

Save system

The save system keeps progression from previous versions while continuing to validate stored values against corrupted or invalid data.

Progress, stars, Perfect clears, achievements, settings, and unlocks remain intact.

Performance and stability

The game continues to use a deterministic grid simulation with a fixed gameplay step.

Additional checks were made for:

  • pause/resume transitions
  • browser tab switching
  • touch input
  • canvas resizing
  • level restart
  • state transitions
  • special tiles
  • moving obstacles
  • gates
  • portals
  • phase bridges
  • enemy behavior

No current release-blocking issues are known.

Current release status

v1.4.1 FINAL is now the recommended version for itch.io.

Thanks for playing Lumling Routes!

More levels, challenge content, and new mechanics may still come in future updates, but this version is now considered the stable release build.
